In this lesson I want to talk about Prosperity of the Soul:

3 John 1:2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers.

I am willing to bet we have all heard this verse.  We have all read it, so I am not trying to teach you something new.  I am trying to show you what already is, what we can get a hold of, what we can get going in our lives.

“I wish that you would prosper in ALL things” and what kind of health?  GOOD health.

Tha Bible says in James “that ALL good things come from above”.  So I want us to define prosperity as the manifestation of heavenly blessing and provision here on earth.

Now let me ask you:  ALL.  Would that include our careers?  Would that include our relationships?  What about our hobbies?  What if you are on a sports team?  Do you think this verse applies to and impacts your sports team?  Or has God stepped back and he doesn’t get involved in sports?

What about your activities?  What about your ministries, and of course, your health?

I want to show you something here:  It says “be in good health even as your soul prospers.” So there is another way for us to get healing in our physical bodies.  Our soul prospering.

Let’s move to the word “even as”.  Which “even as” is the Greek word kathōs.  Kathōs means “according as, just as, in proportion as, in the degree that, sense seeing that agreeably to the fact that”

That’s what “even as” means.  I’m going to show you how imperative it is that we understand this word.

Have you ever played with a thermometer?  Can you separate the thermometer from the temperature?  What happens if you take the thermometer out in the sun?  The temperature goes up.  Can you stop it?  Did you do anything to the thermometer?  What happens if you take it into the cold?  The temp goes down.  Did you do anything to the thermometer?

So we can say the thermometer’s mercury will move in “even as” or according to the temperature.  The more sun, the quicker the temp will rise, and more cold the quicker it will drop.

Let now compare our souls and our prosperity in our life, our blessings, the manifestation of Heaven on this earth, to a thermometer.  We are the thermometer and God is the temperature, it is directly proportional to:  The impact Heaven is having on our soul.

What is the soul?  The soul is your mind, your will and your emotions.

It is time we fully understood what our soul is.  When we are reading the Bible, how imperative it is that we renew our soul.

So now:  Lets put together what we’ve learned into the 3 John 1 verse:

Beloved, I pray that in all respects that you may experience the manifestation of Heavenly blessing and provision and be in good health, in direct proportion, and to the degree, in which your mind, your will, and your emotions experience Heavenly provision and blessing.

What if I told you that everything you are experiencing here on Earth is in direct proportion to what you are experiencing in your soul?  As your soul prospers…so does your life.

Beloved, I wish for you to prosper.
